Everyone enjoyed the first 2 films. The third one however wasn't as good. It was a very disappointing movie as far as the plot line goes. My argument is very similar with Chris Stuckmann's review that I posted below.
Its not that I didn't enjoy it. It was revolutionary for its time. It just feels a bit overrated and didn't age super well. Especially the sequels.
Yeah, now it seems like they're kind of fading away. No one really talks about them that much anymore. Any time I've brought it up to someone, they have no clue what it is.
The concept and effects had a novelty factor when it released which may be has gone.

Maybe it's a prequel. But both actors have obviously aged a lot since than. So.......any ideas which direction this could be going?
Neo wouldn’t be in a Matrix prequel. He wasn’t really Neo until The Matrix. It’ll be a sequel. What do you call the fourth movie in a franchise? A fourequel?
They've made prequels in other film franchises. It doesn't mean they'd make a prequel before the actual first film. They've already been doing it with Star Wars like Rogue One, which was before Episode 4: A New Hope. You get me?
I was thinking along the lines a film between the first and second since Trinity is alive seeing as we all watched her die in Revolutions. Unless somehow something brought them back.
I still disagree with you. A prequel is about events that precede those of an existing work. So if they wanted to make one that happened before Reloaded, they very well could. I'm more than happy to argue back and forth with you about this.
Yes, A prequel would be in a period before Matrix. It won't be a prequel technically. And Neo won't be in it as he wouldn't be Neo then.
If Neo is in it would be post matrix. It may lie in in-between periods of till date episodes. They would then avoid using any prequel/sequel drama and just name it Matrix : XYZ and be done with it.

Its such fun! A prequel to The Matrix would be set before The Matrix. A prequel to The Matrix Reloaded would be The Matrix or The Matrix v1.5.I'm more than happy to argue back and forth with you about this.
Honestly, they can do prequels and sequels because of the Architect, who created the Matrix. However any Matrix film without Keanu Reeves would probably be hard to sell to the audience. However, there is so much origin story referenced by the Architect. There's a lot there they can work with. However, with the audience. There is this bad habit that viewers have. If a certain actor or actors isn't present in a movie franchise, people aren't interested. A great example is Terminator Salvation where Arnold didn't reprise his role for that film and it suffered.
But, Matrix 4 has Keanu Reeves in it and it's not going to be a prequel. So I suppose our debate on that is closed.

He's a program made by the machines. The Oracle stated that the Architect's programming doesn't allow him to make his own choices. He's just doing what he's been programmed to do and following orders from the Machine world.
Wow its been a really long time. I completely forgot about that. I haven't watched the matrix since probably 2002.
Yeah. I just re-watched them again lol. I wonder what the Merovingian's role will be in the Matrix 4. The actor that played him in that last 2 films is reprising his role. So wondering if he's going to be the primary antagonist. He is and was a problem in the last 2 films seeing as he's an exiled operating system that controls a great many other programs. Also, he was the second greatest threat to Neo next to Exile Agent Smith.
